Summer Leftovers

Image
Here are a few random other pictures from this summer.   Grant lost his first two teeth and Haley lost her first molar. Checking out Haley's Young Achievers picture at the mall. Lots of park time. ...and bike time. Lexington Legends game.... Swimming... Yummy garden stuff!

The Clark's

Image
This summer our BFF's from our Lexington, Virginia days came for a visit.  It was a blast and never long enough!  Their adorable daughter Gabby loves horses, so we took her to Keenland and Darley Farm. She kept asking for a pink horsie and low and behold Monkey Joes had one!  We went on a rainy day and she was in pink horsie heaven.  Who knew.  My sister Cara and her family also drove through on their way west for one night while the Clarks were here too.  It was so fun to have such a full house.

Waterfest

Image
Every July Kentucky American Water opens their doors to the public for Waterfest.  They started 4 years ago and I think we've made it the last 3.  If you live in Lexington, you get your water from here.  Look on your bill next spring for the dates and come with us!  It's free and by this point in the summer I am looking for things to fill the time! Each year gets a little better.  This year they had a fun bubble station. We toured the sludge ponds.  Got our faces painted Ate a dinner, toured the tables and went on our way. If I am 100% honest, I will have to admit the main reason I go is because the local kettle corn dude is there and I can eat all the free kettle corn I want.  I love it!  I seriously even took some bags home.  I have a problem :)

Camping

Image
This summer has been so cool and wonderful...until this week.  Good thing we took advantage of the cool weather and snuck in a camping trip to Cave Run Lake last month.    This last picture sums it up.  We have raised happy campers, which makes my heart happy.  Ahhh...family bonding at its best.

14 Years, Baby!

Image
Fourteen years ago this cute fellow asked me out for a picnic date and he's been my guy ever since.  Every August 28th, you know you'll find me eating subs with my favorite people talking about mushy love stuff!

Bottle Caps

Image
The kids have been begging me lately to get out my bottle cap collection and yesterday I finally said yes!  This brings back many happy childhood memories of me doing the same thing - lining them up in rows to see which one I had the most of.  Pepsi wins, with Miller coming in second. As a kid I grew up a block away from "The Towers" - 4 huge freshman dorms for West Virginia University.  In the late 70's or early 80's when I was about Grant's age, the students would lay out on a grassy hill right by my house and drink lots of things.  I would head over every now and then and collect the latest bottle caps laying all over the grass.  I'd say they are about 50% beer and 50% soda - but I guess the drinking age back then was only 18, so it was all legal :)  At any rate - the students stopped laying out sometime in the 80's.  Maybe it was the invention of air conditioning.  Who knows!  Oddly enough the sun bathing students disappeared...
