Cave Run Camping

This week was great!  Brian took some much needed time off from work and we had a ball!   We had a fun "staycation" Wednesday and Thursday - running errands, going out to eat, hanging out etc. and even snuck in a trail run sans kids since they were both in school on Thursday!  It reminded me of when we'd go running in the woods of Connecticut after we were first married.  Then Friday we headed to Cave Run Lake (about an hour away) for a great overnight camping trip.

Since it was still hot, we headed up a little early to have time to swim.  Kentucky really does have great lakes!  The kids had a great time splashing around.

Haley actually took a semi-non blurry shot of Brian and I.
Here is a much more relaxed and happy Brian getting some nature therapy.
Grant found a favorite leaf.
Later that night our friends the Millars drove out to party it up with us for the night.  The men folk gave it a valiant effort to create a land bridge to the other side of the lake.  However, they were a few rocks short of making it...just a few...

There were a few passing showers that came through, but nothing too intense.  Mac and Grant were too cute sharing the chair and umbrella together.

A few drops didn't deter Drew from playing his guitar under the cover of a mini umbrella.  Seriously though - Drew has some skills!!

Ashlee introduced us to the joys of roasting starburts.  Who knew you could do that?  As you can see, Gray sure enjoyed them!  It takes a very cool woman to take her 2 young kids camping for the first time ever AND be almost 6 months pregnant and make it seem effortless.  You are amazing Ashlee!!

Our campsite the next morning.

After hollering after the kids the whole night before to stop jumping on the air mattresses, they were more than happy to help deflate them.

Love this shot.  You gotta love Gray.

It's too bad vacations have to come to an end...but they sure are fun while they last.

Glad you all had a fun time. Did you ever make it to the beach or did you just get in the water by your campsite? Glad the rain wasn't too bad. We missed you at the dance but family time is always fun!

I love the land bridge the "menfolk" were working on! Okay, so what happens when you roast a Starburst--doesn't it just melt and fall off? I must know.

You guys have found some really pretty places to camp--you look right at home.
