Sia Concert

For Haley's 13th birthday all she wanted was to see her favorite singer, Sia, in concert.  Well...that proved to be a little more difficult than we anticipated since Sia's tour wasn't coming anywhere remotely close to Kentucky!  Lucky for her, she has a mama that loves to road trip, and a daddy with lots of free hotel points, so we looked at the dates and towns and decided that the concert in Detroit, Michigan would work best for us.  Here we are at the beginning of our 5 hour road trip to Detroit.
Other than the fact that I was fighting a pretty horrible head cold, the drive actually went great!  We jammed out for hours to Haley's collection of Sia music and had a good ole girls trip, shopping included.

After checking into the hotel, we grabbed dinner at Panera, then headed over to the concert waaaaay early.  Hahaha.  The place was pretty empty, but was totally filled by the time Sia came on stage.

Miguel (who I had never heard of) was the opening act.  I'm not going to lie - it was pretty awful.  Haley said she couldn't understand a word he was saying, which I said was perfect, because what he was saying was not good at all.  It was very, very sexual and weird.  We were both glad when he finally finished singing!
Then, Sia finally took the stage and the whole arena lit up.  You could just feel the whole vibe change and Haley was literally beaming from ear to ear.  It was so fun to watch her watch the concert!  There were people with Sia wigs, big bows, and even a guy dressed up in a complete Maddie costume totally jamming out the entire time in the isle by us.  The person sitting next to me was literally in tears.  It was all pretty entertaining just watching everyone around us!

For anyone who knows Sia, she lets her modern dancers be the focal point of her shows, and it really was neat to watch Maddie and the other dancers perform.  Sia stands off the the side and sings.  It was actually pretty awesome, and I'm glad I got to take Haley to her first concert to see her favorite singer.  Haley is counting the days until the My Little Pony movie comes out next year where Sia is the voice of one of the ponies.  Two of her favorite things will collide - MLP and Sia.  Her mind will be blown.  After a late night we went back to our hotel, slept in, then drove home the next day.  It was a great weekend together, and a great way to start the teenage years!
