Camping at Laurel Lake
We started our adventure the right way...with a visit to the Colonel. The birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Corbin, KY was just a few towns away from where we were headed - so we thought we'd swing by. It's no Chick-fil-a, but for the sake of history we paid tribute. Come to find out - it isn't even the original KFC - just a rebuilt version. Oh well.
Here's Brian with gettin' cozy with the Colonel.
Then we headed out to Cumberland Falls. It was pretty cool!
We hiked, swam and threw many rocks into the lake.

And then we lit up the sparklers! This was Brian's first time EVER seeing a sparkler - how has he made it 34 years without this joy? Horray for Kentucky's lax firework laws :)
The next morning we headed to the marina and rented the worlds smallest fishing boat and drove off into the deap blue with our heads held high. They loved it!
We found a little swimming hole.
Our rear admiral...hahahaha...I look for any opportunity to use the term rear admiral.
After a brief run through Berea on our way back (seriously - how many times can to go to Berea in one month? But Brian hadn't seen it yet...) we headed home with two worn out, but super happy kids.
