Cross Country
Haley ran her second season of cross country and had her best year yet! We are so proud of her and how well she managed having practice until 5:30 each day after school and keeping on top of her homework and other activities. Last year she was still struggling to find a balance, but this year she really figured it all out and did great.
I love this race from the Kentucky Horse Park (below) because it marked the start of a new phase for Haley. She always kinda held back all of last year and at the beginning of this year - but at this race she showed us what she is actually capable of. Watching her give it her all at this race still makes me teary eyed just thinking about it! She ran her best and never looked back. Every race after this she got faster and faster and shaved minutes off of last year's time. I could care less what she places - because to me, doing your best mean you win every time.
The starting line at Masterston Station.
She placed 4th overall for females at this week's race in Harrodsburg!
Grant spent a lot of time doing this and was a good sport cheering on his sister at all of her races. In 3 years it will be him running! I wish so badly his elementary had a team. He would love it.
After one race, we stopped for lunch at the best BBQ around - Red State BBQ - where you can dine with horses outside your window. haha.
At the back of the restaurant the walls are covered with names - but directly above us on the ceiling was this message. Haha. Of coarse we would sit here.
I love watching my kids run and this season was the best! I can't wait until both kids are running in middle school and high school teams at the same time. Only 3 more years...
