The Miracle of the Mallet

The impossible happened today!  Haley learned how to ride her bike WITHOUT training wheels.  Two days ago, after months of coaching and many tantrums, Brian and I decided that since her training wheels wouldn't move up any higher and Haley refused to ride without them (or even without one) it was time for her beloved wheels to meet the mallet.  With some swift pounds, Brian bent them up so they wouldn't give her so much support and boom - 2 days later she's riding her new bike sans wheels!  We honestly couldn't be prouder of her.  It was seriously like watching her take her first steps.  We've waited and waited with anticipation for this moment.  She's also quite pleased with herself which is great too!

I love it! There are a few important milestones our kids hit. This is one of them. Awesome job Haley!!
This is awesome! :) I'm totally smiling. :) I'm so excited for her (and for you). Watching your kids accomplish something they didn't think they could do (or were scared of) is like nothing else!

Oh, that gives me hope!! Dillon still is using training wheels. I love that you kept them on, but just took the mallet to them. We just might try that!
